Welcome to the St. Ansgar Middle and High School
We are a small, rural school district located in north central Iowa. Our middle school consists of grades 6-8 and our high school grades
9-12. While we may be a small district, we definitely have mighty goals and expectations for our students and staff.
Our district mission statement is, “Fostered by a cooperative effort between the St. Ansgar School District and community, our mission is to provide the highest quality education in a secure positive, and challenging environment, empowering all students to reach their full potential.” While our Board of Education realizes that an effective public-school educational program must be directed toward the common needs of all children, our district also does an excellent job of considering the unique differences of individuals. The school shares with the home and community the responsibility for the educational, physical, emotional, mental and social development of each individual child.
In terms of academics, the high school is rated as 'high performing' and the middle school and elementary school are 'commendable' according to the School Performance Profile rankings by the Iowa Department of Education. Our students are frequently involved in several extra-curricular organizations including athletics, eSports, FFA, FCCLA, drama, music, band, speech — just to name a few. These organizations are extremely important in the development of our students as they provide opportunities for our kids to learn about goal-setting, dealing with adversity, time management, leadership and teamwork.
We receive tremendous support from our surrounding communities, which allows us to maintain and update our building and facilities.
