Drivers education classes including the classroom instruction and drive time, will be offered at St. Ansgar in July and January.

 

2022 Winter Drivers ed

Drivers’ education course, including the classroom instruction and drive time, will be offered in St. Ansgar starting Monday, January 3rd. In order to take the Drivers Education course, you must have your permit by this date. A few things have changed due to the coronavirus pandemic we are all facing at this time. The classroom instruction part of the Driver’s Education class will be done entirely online. I have been in contact with a company that has developed a software program that complies with the Iowa Department of Education and the Iowa Department of Transportation requirements for online education. The nice thing about this program is that students can complete this program at any time. There is no specific date or time when we will all need to be together. The online course still needs to be connected with a local Driver’s Education teacher. For example, parents can’t sign up their child to do this program without being linked to a local driver’s education teacher.

Driving will be conducted in the same manner as before,  two students are always in the car along with myself. Cost for drivers ed will be $330 which will be paid to the school. Out of district student are welcome to take the course at St. Ansgar, but will pay Saints Driving School directly. I will be having a Google Meet meeting with anyone who will be interested in taking Drivers Education this winter on Wednesday, December 15th at 7pm. Please send me an email address so I can add it to my list for the meeting to jhendrickson@stacsd.org During this meeting, I will try to answer any questions and explain how the driving schedule will work. Thank you for your understanding. This is a new way of delivering the course instruction and this class will be new to everyone.
